More than words…

Floating, floating, you’ve never been apart.

Fused and floating, you never will be…

The feet aren’t stepping, aren’t moving.

They’re gliding, skimming, drawing, talking.

A different conversation for each song

A new subject for each tanda…

A silence in the music inside,

All that matters is the dialogue,

You look in on yourself

And the volume is on mute

But you know exactly what’s being said.

A flourish, a breath, a tear, a smile

All around is chaos,

Shouting, animation

The couple, you….

quietly making their way,

They look so quiet

in this noisy world

You almost don’t notice

nearly missing their poetry

You almost don’t notice

How together you are

Unti the tanda is over

And that piece of you is gone.

Happy Feet…

Usually D'Arienzo or Biagi instrumentals provokes a feeling of happy feet in me. Animated and full of energy, they start pumping like bandoneons…

However it is a particular combination of careful attention from the leader and the music that brings out my happy feet. Not the number of figures but attention to the space where I am.  It is boring and at times painful to dance with someone who doesn't care about my feet and I have the scars to show for it.

An embrace to remember…

He holds you in an embrace that is present & tender.

He uses the open side not to plough through the crowds,

Bringing it in to leave the connection between yourselves and the floor undisturbed…

Opening out like a new season of bloom.

Dear Father Christmas….

here's my wish list, hope you can help me out…

1. Dancers who can embrace each other.

2. Respect for each couple on the floor, regardless of their level.

3. A melifluous flow of movement and energy.

4. Honouring the codes of the milonga, especially the cabeceo.

5. Wonderful music in a beautiful place.

Do you think we could start in January?

Or maybe at Salon Clore

Thanks for listening.
