Capri Tango Festival

Canzone del Mare Milonga when I was spinning some tunes...Four days and nights of Tango, sea and sun… Capri Tango Festival has just finished it's third edition.

Yes the rain did cause havoc, but only on one night.  This was the scene on Saturday at the Canzone del Mare Milonga when I was in full flow as DJ.

Dancing with such beautiful landscape and weather was great, also great were the performances by all the "Maestri", notably the show put on for the last night of the festival with a lucky dip performance where one of the golden moments was Julio Balmaceda dancing with Diana del Valle.

So Luca, what do you have in store for next year???

Cafe de Los Maestros at the Barbican

If you go for anything it should be to see Alberto Podesta, one of the last remaining singers from the golden age….

I got a couple of tickets to give to the first person who answers this question.

With which orchestra did Alberto Podesta sing the track "Vamos"?

Was it…

(a) Carlos di Sarli
(b) Pedro Laurenz
(c) Enrique Francini
(d) Ricky Martin

Tickets will go to the first person, who is subscribed to the blog, who emails me the correct answer.

Why I’m looking forward to Capri Tango Festival…

To paraphrase Serge Gainsbourg it's "sea, Tango and sun"…

Luca Ferrari works super-hard every year to present a festival that brings the almost impossible combination of an amazing crop of Tango talent in a wonderful setting with a relaxed atmosphere, just how it should be.  When Tango takes over the beautiful island of Capri,  with day milongas at the famous Faraglioni and night milongas at the specially constructed "milonga del Faro", this is the new brat pack.
I'm not going to write about how the teachers are the world's best and the usual phrases used to market festivals, I don't need to.
